First of all, this isn’t so much of a bashing post on the 360 as it’s a plea for MS to be ahead of the curve and actually help it’s consumers. If you are one of the many people who bought a 20gb 360 and you are starting to run out of room then MS needs to listen to what I’m saying. I’m running out of room and I can’t see why the only option is to spend half the price of a 360 on a harddrive. The new 60gb standalone should be available sometime in November and I hear it’s a part of a pack with a headset and 3 months of live, but the price has to be reasonable.

I’m willing to buy my favorite shows like BSG,The Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc ,but I don’t because with some content already on and 28 XBLA games and game saves I just can’t spare the room.People will spend more money if you give them a cheap alternative.

This is where you have to give it to Sony for coming up with a great idea on hardrive replacement and they even warranty the new drive that you buy too.Nintendo says just delete and download again. It’s time for Microsoft to catch up to Sony on this one and make the consumer a offer they can’t refuse. This is 2008 and a harddrive solution that’s affordable and makes sense should be a top priority.

Is it time for Xbox Live to be free? July 26, 2008

Recently,Microsoft made all of the features free to PC gamers.Undoubtly to increase the appeal of PC gaming which has taken a PR hit in the last couple years. Is it time to do the same thing for Console players?

Sony currently offers it’s Playstation Network free of charge. It mostly likely makes up the costs in advertising and costs of companies to list items on the store. It’s also one of the key benefits that Sony offers over Xbox Live.Is this a sign of things to come and will Live become free?

My belief is that it won’t.Microsoft has done well by Live with a good amount of content and a great service along with little downtime.Add in the fact, that many users simply don’t mind paying the cost of Live to insure a good reliable service and I think the most Live users could hope for would be a price reduction.

Any change in the future might be related to how the 360 is performing in sales though..

Well, looking at the total NPD sales figures,Nintendo has taken the total console sales lead away from Microsoft. It’s amazing how many Wii’s are sold every month and yet you still can’t find one.Sony sold almost twice as many PS3s as Microsoft sold 360s.

  • DS – 783k
  • Wii – 666.7k
  • PlayStation 3 – 405.5k
  • PSP – 337.4k
  • Xbox 360 – 219.8k
  • PS2 – 188.8k

Has BanjoKazooie fell off the platform? July 17, 2008

It seems that for a while now,the new BanjoKazooie has been the talk of the internet. Many people believe and myself included that Banjo has become more about building vehicles than actual platform gaming.I was really down on the game in the beginning and I’m still not of the opinion that the game is what I want in a Banjo game.

The game visually from what I have seen looks terriffic.I think there are some questions about the physics and vehicle control and repair though. My question is this.Is Banjo more vehicle based platforming than actual standard platforming or is the vehicle building part just a small component in the overall game.

I’m thinking that vehicle construction is a very large part of the game and that it’s a requirement to get the game completed and that running, jumping and other Banjo trickery is just the small component to the game.I hope more will be revealed closer to their launch and that a demo will be made available.

I think trying something new is a good idea and I can see a good mix of both ideas working, but do people want a Banjo game where constructing vehicles is the major theme? I don’t think so.
