Something I heard and I guess it really makes sense in a way.That PSP releases in 09 would hit retail and the PSN network at the same time. I’m just filing this under rumour,but I also heard Shane say the same thing on the 1up yours podcast.
Have I missed a news release? This would be great news and eventually a way to get away from the UMD format with the prices of the Pro Duo cards going down.You can get a 4gb card for $20 from www.buy.com when they have their sale running.

Looks like Sony will be introducing a PSP firmware update that will allow you to access the PSP store from your Playstation Portable.No more hooking up to your PC or downloading via your PS3.Finally,this will cut out a step and make it a little easier to access content on the go.
Also,Sony is looking into making your ad hoc PSP game playable online via the PS3.This will be limited to certain titles and seems to be related to Japan in the beginning.I expect this to hit worldwide though shortly.

I’ll kinda skip the Nintendo briefing,because mainly it was very weak except for the announcement of Animal Crossing that many people saw coming.

Showed some of the great games coming like LBP,Buzz,The Agency and MAG: A large 256 person game..WTF!
All in all it was a long briefing and was equally as good as Microsoft’s in my mind.I would have loved to heard more about certain games,but pretty good overall.

Eric Lempel(the main man behind the PSN) tells us that a new firmware update is coming for the PSP.Apparently you get some new music visualizers..among other things.Surely,there will be more Eric? right..

Many times,we all get caught up in Next Gen graphics,co-op,multiplayer and more.We tend to lose sight of games that are geniunely fun to play.Space Invaders Extreme for the Sony PSP is exactly one of those games.
Space Invaders is a game that my generation grew up playing in Arcades when we were young.I used to spend tons of quarters or tokens playing games like this,but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more of a current player.I play first person shooters and sandbox games and really don’t look back on those games like I should I guess.
So,I picked up Space Invaders Extreme and it’s a game designed to work well on a portable system.It’s easy to pick up and you can play for small amounts at a time.I dare you to put it down after just a few minutes though.The basic gameplay is that you slide left or right and shoot enemies.It’s not a goverment plot or you trying to take down to newest Alien overlords.No,it’s a simple game with some added features.
Want a devastating laser beam? check
Want a bomb thingamabob that blows stuff up? check
Want Boss fights? Check
The game adds nice new background graphics along with special weapons,Boss battles and mini game levels.I plugged my PSP up to my tv and recorded a little video.Sorry,it isn’t the best in the world,but you get the idea.So got pick up this little beauty and plan on using your psp for other things than updates.
